The David Johnston-Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards will be given by the University of Waterloo to the most successful candidates who support Canadian and international students.  Faculties will nominate eligible students based on the awards they have received. Students are selected based on their academic performance, as indicated by their graduate degree applications.

The International Postgraduate Excellence Award is given to eligible international graduate students participating in a research-based postgraduate program at the University of Waterloo. 

These scholarships to study in Canada are worth $ 2,500 per semester for a maximum of five full-time semesters within the program’s time constraints (6 semesters). Faculties will nominate eligible students based on the awards they have received. Students are selected based on their academic performance, as indicated by their graduate degree applications.

Qualification criteria

For David Johnston – LeBook Foundation International Experience Awards:

• Candidates with higher education status (usually at least 70% average at the undergraduate level; average at least 75% average at postgraduate level) can apply.
• Full-time undergraduate and graduate students of any faculty wishing to participate in an international experience in Israel, such as a minimum-paid or voluntary international cooperation internship, volunteer placement, academic exchange or study of educational needs. 

For the International Postgraduate Excellence Award (IMAE) Awards:

• International students who are taking full-time admission and have a valid Canadian study permit pay an international tuition fee.
• This award is usually given to students in research-based programs (dissertation or major research dissertation).
• Usually given only to first-time students (Term 1.0).
• Students must demonstrate academic distinction according to faculty standards.
• Students must maintain the academic standards of their program and there should be no outstanding admission requirements for probation.
• This scholarship can be used in conjunction with other internal or external scholarships.
• Students can simultaneously receive funding from any foreign government or institution (such as the Chinese Scholarship Council, Libyan funding, etc.).
• Under the current IMSA program, grandparents cannot be nominated for IMAE.
• However, a student who has previously obtained IMSA for a master’s degree may be nominated for IMAE.
